WHAT IS JUSTICE?

George Pappas
Editor

The ultimate state of grace is justice for the wronged; justice for those who never had it, vindication for those who have been abused, defeating an unjust state action against an individual - justice is also what "Bono" refers to when he talks about a "higher law" - questioning and challenging our laws when they violate higher laws that need no legislature or any sanctimonious judging.

In the eyes of any God, not the Gods with their seedy cable TV shows nor the ministers with their diamond rings and their blow dried hair who pray on the ignorant flock nor the God of the few and "chosen," but the God that transcends ALL RELIGIONS - that is the God I know and that is the God which holds out the light for justice.

You'll know him when you see him, you don't need any Southern Preacher or Northern Priest to tell you which God holds the key's to justice...look at the suffering. Look at the oppressed and then look at the zealous and self righteous of our political "right" machine and of the group or breakfast prayer meetings and of the hope meetings and if you don't vomit in disgust, then at least open your mind and your heart to the injustice in Africa, in Asia, to the educational genocide of the US South, the ethnic cleansing in the Balkans and the corruption of God by fundamentalists and zealots of religion.

Whether in the West or the East or the Middle East or in the American South, never underestimate the greed and injustice inherent in the quest for power and money. Focus on the injustice in these times and not on the "End Times."
