First Year University of London External Programme Students

Getting Started

by George D. Pappas, Esq. MSG Editor

Each year, many University of London LL.B. External Programme first year students either don't take their first year exams or under perform because they wasted too much time trying to form study groups that never take off, looked for short cuts and lost valuable time because they didn't make the investment to buy their books immediately upon receiving an offer of admissions.  Other common pitfalls that sideline first year students derive from never writing a single essay before the exam to mastering the art of academic procrastination by reading and taking notes believing that absorbing all the legal "knowledge" in the the world will prepare them for the final exams.  Most of these students never make it past the first year.

Here are some "tips" to help you get started: 1 Buy your books! 2. Apply before June 30th if possible, but if you waited until September to apply, you must act immediately to register upon receiving your offer of admissions 3. If you don't start your studies before December 1st, seriously consider not taking the May/June exams.

Good luck with your journey, but remember this, you will not complete your journey alone, make sure you have a support network at home.
