CHITTY ON CONTRACTS

The 28th edition of Chitty on Contracts is to be published on 30th September 1999. The General Editor is Professor Hugh Beale.

Chitty, first published in 1826, has become the most important authority on contract. Its two volumes provide unrivalled expertise for common law and commercial barristers and solicitors as well as academics and the judiciary.

Sweet & Maxwell (www.smlawpub.co.uk) describe these excellent volumes in this way:

"Chitty's clear written style ensures it can be read and understood by practitioners at all levels of expertise within contract law. Interpretation and explanatory narrative are supported by examples of case law and legislation" The new edition incorporates all the new major developments in case law and legislation, plus the Woolf reforms so that the new terminology is used where relevant.

Particular new legislation includes:

· Arbitration Act 1996

· Competition Act 1998

· Sale of Goods Act

· Railways Act 1993

· Commonwealth jurisdiction case law.

The 2 volumes: General Principles and Specific Contracts: £265

Volume 1: General Principles (of main use to the LL.B student): £195
